Blog of Zontar the thing from Venus. . "Extremism in defense of aesthetics is no vice"
""Devoted to the intensive study of the most obscure and disreputable cultural manifestations of the decaying hu-man empire".
."Zontar, that's hardly a blog you have there. That's a TROVE of SPLENDORS, a COMPENDIUM of WONDERS, a BRITISH MUSEUM of BULLDADA." - Rev. Susie the Floozie . . .
Zontar Web Site
Excellent collection over all three posts - I would, however, question the authenticity of this last one (eg the 400 BJs)- it might require a little more verification.... enjoy your blog very much though...keep up the good work... K
A porn parody of French New Wave Cinema may seem unlikely until one looks at the history of Sexploitation in America. Hucksters searched the world for snippets of nudity that were shown in 'Art Cinemas'. These often became porn venues. By the 70's many cities had an "Art Cinema" that showed porn. The 400 blow jobs has an IMDB listing and I found the following: "While banished to the Hollywood blacklist, JX Williams wrote and directed over 200 stag films in the 1950s and 60s, including this wicked homage to Francois Truffaut".
I take your point about the appropriation of European art house movies for the grind circuit - I once saw a great poster for a 1950s recut, dubbed sexploitation version of Ingmar Bergman's 'Summer with Monika' boasting a new soundtrack by Les Baxter and the shout line: 'The Devil Controls Her By Radar!' I continue to look forward to future posts from the great Zontar.

ReplyDeleteA NYT article that raises more questions:
